It was just a dent

Many of you have asked how I found "the lump". I have always been proactive with getting my annual physical, my annual mammogram, etc. I had a mammogram in May last year and everything was normal. While I was good about going to get the tests I was not very good about checking myself each month. I'm not really sure when I first noticed it but I had a dent in my left breast. I didn't think much of it because I turned 60 last year so I've been seeing dents and dimples where I never saw them before ;-)
I got awakened in the night on January 30th and was praying for my daughter-in-law's Aunt Patti who was fighting for her life. I don't know if it was an angel or Patti or my Mother but someone told me I needed to check out that dent. That is when I found the lump - right under the dent.
The next morning I googled "dent and lump" and it said contact your doctor immediately. I saw my nurse practitioner on February 1st - she felt it. I had a 3D mammogram, ultrasound and ultimately a biopsy on February 6th. On February 8th I got the call...It's Cancer.
So don't ignore any dents - you never know what may be lurking beneath.
